FAQs

RETURNS & EXCHANGES

WHAT IS YOUR RETURN POLICY?

All purchases are final. No returns or exchanges are accepted due to product customization. Ensure correct hat size and choose personalization and embellishments carefully. Minor adjustments or reshaping can be accommodated.

SIZE & FIT

How do I determine my hat size?

As part of our consultation process, we assist in determining your hat size. For guidance on how to measure your head and determine your hat size, refer to this post.

How should my hat fit?

The placement of your hat on your head is a personal choice, but typically it is positioned 1-2 inches above your eyebrows.

Ensure your hat fits snugly to prevent it from blowing off with a light gust of wind. Allow for a slight indention mark upon removal, which should disappear within 5 minutes. Avoid tightness that may lead to headaches.

CARE TIPS

How do I clean my hat?

If you want to remove:

  • Debris and Tiny Fibers- Use a horsehair brush to knock of larger debris and then a lint roller to get into the creases.
  • Stains- Wait at least 24 hours for the stain to completely dry, then use 220 grit sandpaper to buff out the stain.

Always brush felt counterclockwise to finish.

How do I store my hat?
  • When setting your hat down always ensure you place it upside down on its crown to maintain the brim's shape.
  • Never leave your hat in a hot car. This may shrink your hat.
  • When not wearing your hat, store it in a hat box or on a hat stand. We suggest avoiding hanging your hat on a hook as this may distort its shape.

SERVICE

Do you provide hat cleaning or Hat Reshaping?

At the moment, we solely provide these services on hats acquired from our store.

If I bring my own hat in, will you decorate it for me?

We currently only embellish and style hats that we made, however, we do have hat accessories you can purchase to style your own hat.

MATERIALS

WHAT is the difference between rabbit and beaver felt?

The primary difference between rabbit and beaver felt lies in their fiber composition, durability, and texture:

FIBER SOURCE

  • Rabbit Felt is made from the fur of rabbits. It’s widely available and considered a high-quality material for hat-making, offering a soft, smooth texture.
  • Beaver Felt, on the other hand, comes from the undercoat of beavers. This fur is finer, denser, and naturally more water-resistant than rabbit fur.

DURABILITY

  • Beaver felt is significantly more durable and resilient than rabbit felt. It holds its shape better over time and can endure harsher conditions, making it ideal for outdoor wear or heavy use.

TEXTURE & FINISH

  • Beaver felt has a finer and more luxurious texture compared to rabbit felt. The higher density of beaver fur fibers gives it a smoother, silkier finish, often considered a hallmark of premium-quality hats.

WATER RESISTANCE

  • Beaver felt is naturally more water-resistant due to the structure of its fur, making it a better choice for hats that need to withstand rain or snow. Rabbit felt is less water-resistant and may require additional treatment to protect against moisture.

PRICE

  • Beaver felt is more expensive due to the limited availability of beaver fur and the superior qualities it offers. Rabbit felt, being more abundant, is a more budget-friendly option while still providing excellent quality.

In summary, rabbit felt is an excellent choice for lightweight, versatile hats, while beaver felt is ideal for those seeking the highest quality, durability, and water resistance. Both materials have their merits and can be tailored to suit your specific needs and style preferences.

Why do You not make wool hats?

We prioritize using the highest quality materials to craft hats that are durable, luxurious, and long-lasting. While wool is a common material in hat-making, it does not meet the same performance standards as rabbit or beaver felt. Here’s why we choose not to make wool hats:

DURABILITY

  • Wool is less durable than fur felt. It tends to wear down more quickly, losing its shape and structure over time, especially with frequent use or exposure to the elements.

WATER RESISTANCE

  • Wool is naturally more absorbent, meaning it is less water-resistant than fur felts like rabbit and beaver. Hats made from wool are more likely to shrink, deform, or lose their integrity when exposed to moisture.

TEXTURE & FINISH

  • Wool lacks the smooth, luxurious texture of rabbit or beaver felt. Fur felt offers a superior finish and a more refined look that wool simply can’t replicate.

QUALITY STANDARDS

  • Our focus is on providing premium, heirloom-quality hats. Wool, while suitable for certain applications, does not align with the level of craftsmanship and performance we aim to deliver.

By exclusively using rabbit and beaver felt, we ensure that every hat we create embodies the highest standards of quality, style, and functionality.
