What’s the difference between beaver, rabbit, and wool felt hats?

Beaver fur has much thinner and finer fibers than rabbit fur making it denser, more durable and more water resistant. The more beaver fur that’s in the hat the higher the quality. It has a very smooth finish and is breathable making it a felt hat you can wear even in the summer months.

Rabbit fur does not felt as tightly as beaver fur, therefore, it needs to be thicker in order to maintain its shape. Rabbit felt has a longer lifespan and is much more durable than wool. It can be reshaped and is breathable, where wool is not.

Wool is coarse making it not durable and a short lifespan. If it gets wet, it will be ruined. It also is not breathable and can become very hot. Wool can’t be reshaped, whereas rabbit and beaver can. Because of the very low-quality of wool, BANG BANG does not offer wool hats.

How do I clean my hat?

If you want to remove:

• Debris and Tiny Fibers

  • Use a horsehair brush to knock of larger debris and then a lint roller to get into the creases.

• Stains

  • Wait at least 24 hours for the stain to completely dry, then use 120-200 grit sandpaper to buff out the stain.

Always brush felt counterclockwise to finish.
