Sometimes it can be difficult to determine the fit of your hat when trying it on for the first time. Your hat should fit snug enough that it won’t blow off in a light gust of wind, but not so tight that it causes discomfort or pressure headaches.
Follow the instructions below (or watch the video) to use your hat spacers for a more secure and comfortable fit.
If your hat is too big:
- Turn your hat upside down and flip up the sweatband.
- Place a spacer underneath the sweatband at the back of the hat.
- Fold the sweatband back down and try on your hat.
- If the fit is still loose, add a second spacer to the front or above the ears of your hat.
- If the overall fit feels right, but there are small gaps at the temples, place spacers in those areas to refine the fit.
**You can purchase a variety of spacer thicknesses online or use layers of masking tape to close different size gaps. With masking tape, start by placing half of the tape on the sweatband and the other half on the hat, then folding the sweatband down. Apply layers until you achieve the right fit.
